There is a buzz going around the Bay area that the Yankees and Giants are discussing a deal that would send Jason Giambi to the Giants in return for Barry Zito.
There also would be a swap of some minor leaguers included in the deal.
The sticking points are how much of Zito's $126 contract the Giants will pay and if Zito is willing to restructure the payments of the rest. Zito's agent is Scott Boras.
Zito is under contract five more seasons at an annual average cost of $18.9 million.
Giambi, who is from the bay area, will get $20 million from the Yankees this season and is a free agent at the end of the year.
Zito is 0-4 with a 9.68 ERA and has been removed from the rotation by manager Bruce Bochy.
"I'm certainly not happy with it, by any means," Zito said. "But this is the bed that I've made. I have to lay in it for the time being and I have to overcome."

Yeah right, I seriously doubt this one. This would be stupid for everyone involved.
No no no no and no. Zito is finished and we would have to pay him lots of $$$$. Giambi's contract is up at the end of the year so we wouldn't have to pay him after this year. Cash would never do this.
What's your source of this rumor?
