Joe Girardi has just revealed on the
Mike and the Mad Dog Show that Phil Hughes has a stress fracture of the 9th rib.
This was found during an MRI on the strained oblique.
Hughes will not pick up a ball for 4 weeks then begin a rehab.
He might not be available until around the All-Star break.

Hey you commented on my Blog about Joba and why he was throwing "junk" last night. Here's 2 reasons I can think of:
1. Maybe he's preparing to become a starter soon and he just can't pitch 100 MPH fastballs when he's a starter so he has to get used of throwing other pitches and being effective with them.
2. Maybe the Indian hitters were waiting on the fastball so he was hesitant to throw it and they would jump on it like David Delluci did.
If it is #1 then that's screwed up. Game on the line is not time to experiment.
If it's #2 then thats good on the Indians, however, I'd prefer he get beat with his best than his next-to-best.
Thanks for dropping in on New York Yankees Update.
