Tino Martinez will remain with the Yankees organization after his tenure as a spring training instructor ends in less than 2 weeks.
Martinez will be a "special assistant" to Brian Cashman. Cash plans to send Martinez to visit the minor-league affiliates at least once each, during the regular season.
This spring Tino has worked exclusively with Shelly Duncan at 1b and now thinks he'd like to eventually coach with the big club.
"Now that I've gotten involved in it, I've enjoyed it so much that I definitely want to continue."
