GM MEETINGS SPY REPORT

Yankees GM Brian Cshman was seen today in private conversations with Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd and Phillies assistant GM Ruben Amaro, Jr.

(Note: Ruben Amaro, Sr. was a Yankees infielder in the late 60's.)

SPECULATION:

The convo with O'Dowd might be about 3b Garrett Atkins (.305, 25, 111). Those are pretty good numbers to replace Me-Rod. He only made 13 errors at the hot corner. The Rocketts are ready to bring in their top prospect Ian Stewart to play 3b in 2008 making Atkins expendable.

It's hard to tell what Cash and Amaro would be talikng about other than dinner plans. The Phils do have a couple of extra catchers on their roster. One is career minor leaguer Chris Coste. He's 34 and could be a cheaper alternative to Jose Molina. An interesting player the Phillies have is Greg Dobbs who played 1b, 2b, 3b and OF in 2007. He also played the same positions for the Mariners (2004-2006). He appeared in 142 games in '07, 68 of them at 3b. He hit .272, 10, 55 in 324 AB's.
