As this blog reported on OCTOBER 10, 2007 titled "YANK-COUP", Hank and Hal Steinbrenner have taken control of the Yankees, the YES network and construction of the new stadium. The YES NETWORK is reporting a story from the NY POST saying that G3 has "turned over control of the Yankees due to declining health".
"I'll pay more attention to the baseball part," Hank Steinbrenner said. "The stadium, that's more Hal. But basically everything will be decided jointly."
The roles are opposite of what NYYU's source in Tampa said on October 10, but nothing will be final until after the meetings this week.
Reading into this move might be good news for Joe Torre.
Hank issued a statement saying that Joba Chamberlain will go to spring training as a starter, which means they have no plans to need a closer and the closer said that he'd likely move on if the manager does not return.
