Jorge Posada is on his way to Birmingham, Alabama to visit renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews to have is right shoulder examined.
The NY Times reports today that Dr. Andrews has already seen Posada's MRI results.
Posada has been experiencing a "dead arm/shoulder" sensation since April 8th.
If Posada ends up on the DL for an extended period the Yanks are in a bind for a back-up catcher.
Chad Moeller was DFA on Friday, which now makes no sense. Why would they DFA Moeller knowing that Posada was not 100%?
I would imagine this will spark more Mike Piazza talk.
If Moeller is not picked up by another team they could bring him back.
The Yanks could also bring up Chris Stewart from Scranton or P.J. Pilittere from Trenton to fill the gap until a long term solution is found.
