CECIL FIELDER: SURF'S UP!

Ex-Yank Cecil Fielder has been named the new manager of the Atlantic City Surf of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.

“I’m excited to join the Surf organization,” Fielder said. “This is a great opportunity, and we’re putting together a team that will give one hundred percent every night. I’m looking forward to managing in such a strong baseball area, and we’re working to bring another championship to Atlantic City.”

The Atlantic City Surf open their 2008 Can-Am League home schedule on May 26 against the league’s newest member, the Ottawa Rapids. (Tickets Here)

Fielder managed the Charlotte County Redfish of the independent South Coast League last year.

Cecil was a member of the New York Yankees' 1996 World Series champions.

He was traded to the Yankees in exchange for OF Ruben Sierra and RHP Matt Drews.

Drews was yet another example of a "good young player" that the media said the Yankees "gave away" for aging veterans.

Drews never made it to the Majors and was done with baseball in 2000.

He now works for a company called "Shape Fit" which claims to be "the Internet's premier health and fitness web site."
