According to some low people in high places Yankees Assistant GM Jean Afterman has had discussions with Cardinals GM John Mozeliak about 3b Scott Rolen.
Rolen is owed $36 million through 2010, so the Cardinals would ask for very little in return. He saw limited duty last season due to a shoulder injury and is not a favorite of manager Tony LaRussa.
