AROD'S BACK DOOR TO RETURN
WFAN is reporting that A-Rod has contacted the Yankees through a "3rd party."
NYDN's Bill Madden on the air with Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts confirms this.
Any negotiations with "A" will be on the Yankees terms and will not include agent Scott Boras.
"We will not negotiate with Scott Boras," a Yankees source said. "He cannot be in the room."
The Yankees will require "A" to head to Tampa and pledge his allegiance to the Yankees directly to "The Steinbernner 3."
"A" is very concerned about his image and the negative media publicity. Madden says that "A" has finally realized that Boras has made him look greedy and "A" is wondering if that $350 million is really out there.
"A" will also have to make a deal that would reflect the $21 milion Texas subsity that the Yankees lost when "A" opted out of his contract.
The offer: A 10-year deal worth around $275 million, $75 million less than Boras has been looking for.
