The A-Rod Conspiracy Theory

The "T" word (tampering) showed up today in an article by Murray Chass of the NY Times.

"Unless he received a pre-opt-out commitment from another team, that is, unless someone tampered with Rodriguez "

This is something that I eluded to in a posting last week.

To me, it made no sense for "A" to opt out when he did and not to talk to the Yankees first.

My theory is that Tom Hicks might have paid off Scott Boras to have "A" opt out, thus saving Hicks more money than if he switched to GEICO.

Also in that NYT article, Mr. Chass mentions the "C" word. (collusion)

"In fact, Boras’s words and deeds had other agents saying they wouldn’t mind if the owners engaged in collusion against Rodriguez, which is a pretty severe reaction from people whose clients were victims of the owners’ collusion in the mid-1980s."

Now, wouldn't that be great?! No takers for "A" at those numbers.
