I wonder if Yankees (mis)management understands how stupid they look today?


The 3 Steinbrenners and their committee of idiots made the premier organization in the history of professional sports look like a low budget scrub franchise.


Good for Joe! We might never know what was said in that room, but I hope "up your ass, George" was included in the conversation. Joe kept his pride, didn't swallow it.

Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune wrote today:

"Shame on Randy Levine and the New York Yankees.Offering the highly respected, highly successful Joe Torre only a one-year contract extension, at a pay cut of almost 30 percent at that, after he took his team to the playoffs for the 12th year in a row was a gutless way to get rid of him."

If the Yankees didn't want Joe back, simply say so. Tell Joe they want to change direction, throw a chunk of change to the Joe Torre Foundation and plan Joe Torre Day.


But no, they chose to look like the asses that they are and offer a "contract" they knew he wouldn't accept.

The play-off bonuses were a joke. I can see Joe sitting in the dugout watching Kyle Farnsworth throw a meatball taking Joe's "bonus" with it over the outfield wall. "That was a $1 million gopher ball Ky, thanks!"

Randy Levine said "We thought that we need to go to a performance-based model, having nothing to do with Joe Torre's character, integrity or ability. We just think it's important to motivate people."

Motivate Joe Torre?! Are you saying that he wasn't trying to win so you need to motivate him? Are you saying he was just a chair warmer going along for the ride? DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU JUST SAID?!

Levine added: "It is now time for the New York Yankees to move forward."

By taking a major step BACKWARDS?

Is that so, Randy? Then why do YOU and CASHMAN still have your jobs, or did you take a 30% pay cut?
