The Yankees hold a $17 million contract option on Mike Mussina for 2007. There is no chance they will pick that up, a fact of economic life Mussina understands.
But Mussina would like to remain with the Yankees beyond this season.
If general manager Brian Cashman wants to discuss a contract extension now, Mussina would welcome the chance. But Cashman
