GIRARDI WONT PICK ON POPE

Joe Girardi will not complaint about playing 18 of 20 games on the road to accommodate Pope Benedict XVI's Mass on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

“You'd like to be home a little bit more, but who's going to argue with the pope? No, not me. You're going to have to play 81 games on the road. And if you're going to play a lot of games on the road, to me the month to do it is early, when you're fresh and it's not real hot.”

MLB Senior Vice President Katy Feeney said changes had to be made by Major League Baseball to accommodate Benedict's Masses at Nationals Park in Washington today and at Yankee Stadium on Sunday.

Hi Mike,
Girardi won't complain...not publicly anyway.

I'd like to say that with regard to Mike Mussina, I see a move to the bullpen for him soon. Maybe not this season. His velocity is down, and he needs to accomodate for that. The Yankees never do too well against the Red Sox in April. So these two series against the Sox in boston and in the Bronx last night are not very good indicators of how the Yankees are matched up against them.

All in all, I like Girardi, and I think this team is going to be in the mix for the AL East title until the very end of September. I do not think Boston is as formidable as everyone thinks they are. -Mike.

Mussina is too much of a head case with his regimen to succeed out of the pen.

One blade of grass out of place on his pitching day and he's done.

Hi Mike,
Lol, that is too funny! My wife always says after a bad Mussina pitching performance "It looks like the Mike had burned toast for breakfast." I think that's funny.
