1984: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
The good folks at River Ave. Blues did 2 "where are they now" posts recently and inspired me to look up a few myself.
From the 1984 Yankees (87-75, Finished 3rd in AL Eastern Division). Manged by Yogi Berra:
Vic Mata, OF, #55 & 17. Signed as an amateur free agent on March 16, 1978. Vic's Career lasted 2 seasons ('84 & '85), both with the Yankees. Today, Mata is now the Yankees Latin American Field Coordinator.
Scott Bradley, C-OF-DH, #34. Drafted in the 3rd round of the 1981 amateur draft. Played in 28 games from '84 to '85, then traded with Glen Braxton and Neil Allen to the White Sox for Ron Hassey, Matt Winters, Chris Alvarez and Eric Schmidt on February 13, 1986. Bradley played 9 seasons in the Majors, mostly with Seattle. Today, Scott is the head coach at Princeton. One of his prized pitchers is Chad Ohlendorf, the younger brother of Yankees pitcher Ross Ohlendorf.
Dennis Rasmussen, P, #45. The Yankees acquired Rasmussen during spring training in 1984 from the Padres in exchange for Graig Nettles. He was traded to the Reds in August of '87 for Bill Gullickson. After coaching for four years with the Devil Rays for two and the Red Sox, he got into the financial services industry in Orlando with Merrill Lynch.
