Former New York mayor and presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani says Fargo's Roger Maris should have been selected for the baseball Hall of Fame.
Giuliani made a brief campaign stop in Fargo, ND.
Giuliani was a college freshman in 1961, when Maris set the single-season home run record of 61 while playing for the New York Yankees.
Giuliani says he attended the game where Maris set the mark and that Maris was also a great defensive player and had a great arm.
He says the Yankees have retired his No. 9 jersey, and that alone should make him good enough for the Hall of Fame.
