Art Fowler, who pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers' 1959 championship team and was Billy Martin's pitching coach and drinking buddy, died Monday. He was 84.
Fowler, as pitching coachfor his long time friend, won World Series rings with the Yankees in 1977 and 1978.
"Art Fowler is a person who by all accounts loved life and the game of baseball," Yankees spokesman Jason Zillo said. "His humor and gregarious fun-loving nature will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to call him a friend, teammate, and coach."
