"THUNDER"-ING FOR A CAUSE

TRENTON, NJ: Trenton Thunder ( NY Yankees Double-A Affiliate) Assistant General Manager Greg Coleman completed his goal of rounding the bases at Waterfront Park 500 times. Coleman started his journey at 7:07 AM and finished at 2:32 PM completing 500 trips around the bases in 7 hours and 25 minutes. Each trip around the bases is 360 feet, so Coleman traveled over 34 miles to complete the challenge. By comparison, the standard marathon distance is 26 miles 385 yards.

Coleman’s inspiration for taking on the challenge is his 3-year old son Kevin, who was recently diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD-NOS). PDD-NOS is a disorder related to autism which affects the development of social interaction and communication.

Proceeds will benefit the New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community (COSAC). COSAC is a non-profit agency providing information and advocacy, services, family and professional education and consultation.

"The Thunder is excited to support COSAC because they offer so many valuable services to the autism community,” added Coleman. “We hope that our involvement will encourage others in the community to donate so that COSAC can continue to reach out to families and expand upon those services."
