YANKEE NEWS FROM THE SUNDAY NY POST
GEORGE KING reports:
As usual, Mariano Rivera won't need his road uniform during the exhibition slate.
"To take him on a 11/2-hour bus trip to pitch one inning somewhere doesn't make any sense to me," Joe Torre said.

Carl Pavano is 10 days away from throwing off a mound, but Torre isn't concerned Pavano's back problem will linger.
"I feel better about him this year than at this time last year," Torre said of his starting pitcher.

Tanyon Sturtze didn't throw off a mound with the other relievers yesterday. The Yankees are being cautious with Sturtze, who was bothered by a right shoulder problem last year and didn't do much throwing in the off-season.
