Yankees people think it will be a two-team derby between them and the Astros for Roger Clemens. The Yankees actually view Houston as a slight favorite for Clemens, even though he'd have to sit out until May 1 to re-sign with the Astros. So the Yankees have their eye on Clemens' little buddy Andy Pettitte as a backup plan.

They see Pettitte's ridiculously backloaded contract ($17.5 million in '06) as a potential impetus for a midseason trade should Houston fall out of the race.
